On Monday morning, the Moorea Ocean Adventures team had the pleasure of helping the Polynesian NGO Te mana o te moana in its actions to protect endangered marine species, including sea turtles. Trevor, our guide and pilot, had the honor of tagging and releasing his first turtle into the wild.

Rare encounter of the scalloped hammerhead shark

During a private tour last week, we had the chance to meet a scalloped hammerhead shark a few miles offshore Moorea. This species which is present in French Polynesia and specially in Marquesas islands is very rare to observe in Moorea waters. This shark was a female of 2.2 meters long, quite inquisitive but also skinny and solitary.
