Who are we?

A local tourism operator specialist of Polynesian marine wildlife

History

Before Moorea Ocean Adventures, our team worked for many years in French Polynesia in the fields of marine conservation, scientific research, and sustainable tourism. Our collaborations with local associations, research centers, and universities led us to work with sea turtles, cetaceans, and many other species.

Convinced that effective nature protection requires ecotourism, public awareness, and the elimination of certain prejudices, the idea to create Moorea Ocean Adventures was born in 2016.

We designed our private tours as an opportunity for our team and our clients to explore, share, and learn about this still largely unknown marine life.

Starting with a small team of three, we gradually grew and demonstrated our professionalism to local institutions and our international clientele, which includes renowned underwater photography professionals and conservationists.

Our philosophy

One of our main goals is to educate and raise awareness about the marine world. During each tour, we provide detailed information about the species observed. And above all, we encourage questions!

Moorea Ocean Adventures supports and complies with local rules for approaching and observing wildlife. These rules, in addition to ensuring the safety of our guests, allow for greater protection of marine species and the preservation of the integrity of their marine habitats. By following these rules of good conduct, encounters with marine animals will also be easier, last longer, and are more likely to offer the spectacle of behaviors undisturbed by humans. The ocean is not an amusement park; wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, and that’s part of the magic of wilderness.

We also ask our guests to respect certain rules to ensure the long-term health of coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Finally, Moorea Ocean Adventures reports the observations made on each tour to the French Polynesia Environmental Office, a crucial collection of information for understanding the distribution and behavior of marine species in Moorea.

Our Boats

We offer two boats for our private marine life observation tours, each in line with the Moorea Ocean Adventures philosophy: comfort, safety, and respect for the environment. Our two boats are Falcon 650s, semi-rigid boats perfectly suited to the lagoon and the open ocean. They ensure perfect navigation with optimal comfort: padded seats, a canvas roof, a grippy floor to prevent slipping, and inflatable tubes that make it easy to sit or enter the water.

Equipped with an environmentally friendly 4-stroke engine, this boat model allows us to approach whales and dolphins without disturbing their behavior. Finally, its small size makes this boat very maneuverable. The boats we have chosen thus increase our chances of experiencing exceptional encounters with marine animals. They are fast, clean, and modern, with a maximum of 6 passengers on board. Each boat is officially licensed for passenger transport and piloted by an experienced and certified pilot. We have on board all the mandatory and required equipment for safety at sea.
